Project Overview
Takiff Early Childhood Center experiences significant playground traffic due to the high enrollment within its program. As plans were made to revamp the playground, the staff reflected on their previous experience with traditional artificial turf surfacing — and it had not been a positive one with the previous installer.
ForeverLawn Chicago stepped in to listen to their concerns, how infill was consistently being displaced, yarn fibers were pulling loose from the backing, and failing seams were creating safety concerns throughout the playground area. After listening to their concerns, our team got to work.
Through a Lunch & Learn session, ForeverLawn Chicago was able to explain and demonstrate how our high-performance systems are constructed differently from traditional artificial turf systems.
They shared information about the premium three-layer backing system, including how the tertiary layer is manufactured using 100% post-consumer recycled water bottles through ForeverLawn’s partnership with Project Yellowstone. In addition to its sustainability benefits, this layer also helps protect the tufted yarn fibers from the elements beneath the surface.
Next, they demonstrated the dimensional stability of ForeverLawn’s proprietary seaming system and explained how it differs from traditional turf systems that rely solely on glue to hold seams together.
Finally, they introduced what was, at the time, ForeverLawn’s patent-pending antistatic technology and explained how it helps create a safer, more inclusive play environment — especially for children with cochlear implants.
Since installing, Takiff Early Childhood Center has been ecstatic over the continued performance and appearance of ForeverLaw’s system leading to other opportunities for working with ForeverLawn Chicago.
